Ibarapa North/Central Lawmaker, Ojedokun Resigns From PDP, to Announce New Party Soon

The member representing Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Gbadegesin Ojedokun, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal crises and persistent divisions within the party.

Hon. Ojedokun conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated May 8, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ward 03, Igangan 1, Ibarapa North Local Government, Oyo State.

The lawmaker stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.

In the letter personally signed by him, Hon. Ojedokun explained that the decision followed careful reflection and extensive consultations with political associates, supporters, loyalists and family members across his constituency.

According to him, the lingering internal crises and deepening divisions within the PDP have continued to undermine unity, stability and collective progress within the party.

He further noted that several efforts aimed at reconciliation and restoring harmony within the party structure had failed to yield meaningful results, thereby creating an atmosphere no longer conducive for him to effectively pursue his political aspirations and continue quality representation of his constituents under the platform of the PDP.

Parts of the resignation letter read, “My resignation is principally due to the irreconcilable internal crises and persistent divisions within the party, which have continued to undermine unity, stability, mutual trust and collective progress.

“Despite several efforts aimed at fostering reconciliation and strengthening internal harmony within the party, the crises have remained unresolved and have created an unhealthy political atmosphere.”

The lawmaker expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the PDP for the support, cooperation and opportunities accorded him during his membership of the party.

He also appreciated his supporters and political associates for their continued loyalty and encouragement throughout his political journey.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ojedokun disclosed that consultations are ongoing regarding his next political move and assured that he would soon announce his next line of action, including his choice of a new political party.
